My Photography Journey
My photography journey begins here.
My journey in photography began with this image.
Twelve years ago, I suddenly felt exhausted and wanted to find a quiet place to rest for a few days. So I came here, alone, with a camera. At that time, smartphone photography was not yet common. I had bought the camera simply to document my children’s growth, and my only goal was to take clear pictures. I had never thought about the difference between taking pictures and photography.
During those several days, I was alone in nature, temporarily freed from the noise and complexity of daily life. What remained was a quiet dialogue with nature, and the subtle inspiration it brought. I captured the moments that touched me, not to express anything, but simply to preserve a feeling, so that one day, I might return to it.
That experience of being fully immersed in nature, of feeling completely relaxed, stayed with me. From then on, I began taking solo trips from time to time, going to remote places and allowing myself to be absorbed by the natural world. I always brought my camera, but gradually, recording was no longer enough. I began to ask myself: how can I bring my emotions and inner experience into the image?
It was around that time that I discovered post-processing, how light and color could be shaped to express mood. I started searching for resources online and teaching myself. Back then, information was fragmented and far less accessible than it is today. My learning process was like assembling a puzzle, piece by piece. But this also helped me develop an open approach, absorbing ideas from different sources, while maintaining my own sense of direction.
The process of learning was long, and the development of visual sensitivity even longer. Coming from a science and engineering background, with no formal training in art, stepping into this field felt like entering a vast ocean, trying to find a path of my own.
Throughout this process, I never forgot why I started. It was about connecting with nature, and about expressing what I felt through my work. Because of this, I never pursued popular or well-known locations. Instead, I was drawn to places that resonated with me, often remote, quiet, and untouched. Perhaps, deep down, I have always been searching for a kind of quiet solitude, a sense of stillness that feels almost poetic and ultimate romantic.
As my skills developed, so did my understanding of photography. At first, I believed that strong post-processing could fully realize an idea. But over time, I found that the images I like most were not those carefully planned and heavily processed, but those discovered in the moment, images that carried my own perspective.
I gradually came to understand that the essence of a photograph lies not in technique, but in the way the photographer sees the world. This “uniqueness” is not something to be forced. Each person is already unique, and what we see is simply the world reflected through our inner self. Photography, in a way, is the act of making that reflection visible.
Whenever I go out to photograph, I spend a great deal of time immersing myself in the environment. This process begins long before I arrive. I make fewer and fewer fixed plans. Instead, I let the images emerge gradually in my mind, or reveal themselves unexpectedly.
I often find myself simply sitting or standing near the location, doing nothing. Sometimes my mind is empty, and sometimes it drifts far beyond photography. On one occasion, I suddenly recalled a question that had stayed with me since childhood. In physics class, when I learned about electrons orbiting the nucleus, I imagined planets orbiting the sun. In biology, when studying cells, I thought about the structure of the Earth.
I always felt that the microscopic and the macroscopic worlds share something in common. That is the beauty of nature. If we could shift our scale, see the world from different perspectives—perhaps we could get closer to its essence. At that moment, I realized that photography might be a way of doing just that.
Perhaps this is why I have always been drawn to intimate landscapes and abstract forms. What if I could “shrink” myself and enter another space of perception? A space where recognizable objects fade away, and what remains is the essence beneath appearances.
From that point on, my work gradually moved toward abstraction. I am still in the process of that transition. Nature remains my source of inspiration. I still photograph grand landscapes, but I increasingly focus on subtle details: things that may only exist within my own perception. Sometimes, I even deconstruct and reorganize what I see from different perspectives, forming a new inner world.
These seemingly free and unstructured explorations are, in fact, my way of searching for and understanding myself.
I enjoy exploring alone, just as I enjoy being immersed in nature by myself. But if, along the way, someone understands what I see, if you connect with some of my images, it brings me great joy.
This website is built with that hope. That those who resonate may find me here.
And that we may share conversations, from time to time.
